ARGH* THEY SHOULD TAX THE GUY WHO MADE UP THIS STUFF!">*ARGH* THEY SHOULD TAX THE GUY WHO MADE UP THIS STUFF!

February 25th, 2005  |  Published in Living  |  19 Comments

It’s that time of the year again! Getting medical bills organised, leave travel sorted out, other allowances tallied, submitting proof of investment (excuse me, but I spent it all!!). I am absolutely averse to this tax stuff. Whoever invented this messy complicated stuff. As usual, I kept it pending till the last minute. So I have to suffer over the weekend now. Absolutely my least favourite activity in the world. After ironing.

Even i had a bad time with organising these stuff a week ago. Everyone is busy with their calculations, I guess the only guys who are having a good time are the Chartered Accountants :).

Ironing isn’t *that* bad — I have become deft at this chore — and it’s become like a de-stress therapy for me over the years!

Hey, at least you live here. I’ve got to do my taxes 20,000 miles from home!

For the life of me I don’t understand a thing about taxes. And I hate it when people try to explain it to me.

“excuse me! I am just not interested. Tell me what I have to pay and put me out of my misery. If you shut up I’ll throw in a bit extra.… but please dont explain it to me.”

Everyone hates this. But thank god that we dont ahve to fill up those 14 page return documents. And also most of the calculations etc are done by the Finance people at most corporations. Imagine how bad it would be if you also had to calculate your taxes. :)

It gives you the feel that you are doing something about your finance though, forcing you to do savings though.

Have fun. If you know how it all works, its real fun.

    Cheers

vevck: i’m not sure they’re having a very good time either. anyways, i definitely don’t want to be in their seat!

venky: :) yeah. and even the CM seems to be working on taxes. but ours, not his!

jag: i hate ironing! it’s really one of the worst activities on earth :) i think irons should be banned and banished to middle earth! i have had some horrendous experiences with them, including nearly burning the house down once!

marco: remote tax filing? i wonder how that works :) but then i believe you folks pay lesser taxes than us!

shilpa: same here! even ‘taxes simplified’ doesn’t work for me. after a while, i go completely blank!

ritesh: the finance people have been looking rather stressed the last few days, the poor things!

mahesh: maybe one day we will go back to that system!

vin: unfortunately, i haven’t been doing much of that either!

Well, here is how it is going to be. The punctual people will rush and fill up their tax forms and actually submit them.. some people will procastinate and wait till the end. Two days before the deadline when the real procastinators are still procastinating while the fake ones stressing out, the deadline will be extended two months down the line. Just wait and watch and remember you heard it here first.

does everyone that earns income have to file taxes in india? or are farmers, business owners exempt from filing personal taxes?

The direct tax laws are quite straight forward, but, only if you have that little bit of patience to understand them. I would be glad to help anyone in need.

    Hello,

Please, consider this mail as very important and do let me know your honest response within the shortest time possible…Obviously, you have no knowledge of who I am, but I am Ms Mary Nora, from Sierra Leone, but resident in Senegal (West Africa).

I am interested in investing in any lucrative business enterprise in your country and do want to use this opportunity to seek your advice on the possibility of investment in your area. Over the recent years, there have been cases of political instability in most countries here in Africa and as a result, I am afraid to invest my money here. On this note, I have decided to look else where for possible investment opportunities, hoping that I would achieve this goal with the assistance of a reliable person.

I would like to know if it would be secured and lucrative to invest in your country and after a careful feasibility study of the various possible fields or industries in your country by your kind assistance, I would transfer my funds to your country for investment. In a nutshell, I do have a large amount of money to establish an ultra modern company in your country, but I will like to know the possible channels available in your area. Please, do assist me carry out a careful survey and get back to me on the various possibilities. If you do not have any much knowledge about investment or business, I will appreciate if you could recommend me to some business experts individuals/companies/business consultants) in your area, who might be of help to me.
I do hope to know you better in the course of time and if trust is established between us, I might need you to be actively and directly involved in this proposed venture. But for the time being, I would like to know you better and hope we could get acquainted within the shortest time possible. In my next correspondence with you, I will give you a clue of how much I intend to invest in your country, but for now, I look forward to receiving your response and hope this opportunity would bring us closer for a possible business relationship between us in the near future.

Have a nice day and best regards,

    Ms Mary Nora.
