New look etc.

After a cou­ple of years using Mov­able Type, I am chang­ing over to Word­Press. Despite all the won­der­ful work thanks to Jay Allen and his MT Black­list, I was still get­ting way too much spam. It was becom­ing a pain to remove it every­day. I am hop­ing WP does not give me as much stress :)

It’s going to take time for me to get used to the new inter­face. Updat­ing my blogroll etc. is going to take me some more time, so do bear with me. Any prob­lems that you might encounter with nav­i­ga­tion, links etc. — do email me. Mean­while, let me get back to work…

  1. Change is good. I like this new look and feel. I am also using mov­able type, but I don’t get spammed that much (man­age­able), I will stick with this till it get worse.

  2. thanks sam :) yeah. we all need change once in a while, i am sure you’d be the fit­ting exam­ple! hope this one goes bet­ter. still have to do a lot of work on the links and navigation.

  4. Wel­come to Word­Press. Your site looks real good com­pared to the old one. Is spam (com­ment and track­back) the only rea­son for the switchover?

  5. Jax: Umm, actu­ally I switched hosts and Mad­man who is look­ing after it sug­gested I move to WP. This is, prob­a­bly, a case of blind trust :)

  6. Blind trust? In fact, it is a very good move by Mad­man to sug­gest WP. I guess he is tired of fix­ing up MT issues ;-) I won­der when he is switch­ing to WP.

  8. When am I switch­ing to Word­Press? It’s a lit­tle more com­pli­cated for me, since I use some gim­micky thinga­ma­jigs on my blog and also have a sep­a­rate links blog. So I have to work a lit­tle more on it.

    http://wp.madmanweb.com is the beta. I am try­ing to fig­ure out why my links blog win­dow isn’t open­ing the way it’s sup­posed to.

  10. Now this is what I call “change”. For once I won­dered if I was on the right web­site! But its all for the bet­ter. Just LOVE the new look and feel. It has that “Clas­sic” look about it. In my opin­ion, this is great!

  11. Anita, Here is my 2cents
    The back­ground and the font size/color of the fonts(?) are prov­ing to be a lit­tle dif­fi­cult to the eyes. Can you look into it?

    The “ban­ner” of your prior blogsite was more fun than the present one. Again it might be due to the back­ground color.

  12. Mad­Man: It would be won­der­ful if you could put a 301 redi­rect on the old MT feeds around these parts :)

    Is the WP install run­ning with the caching thingie on? I am being served WP pages way faster by the MadM server than it used to serve me the MT HTML pages.

    And yes, will add the 301 to the RSS. I won’t bother with all the feeds, just the RSS 2.0 one.

  24. Thank God!

    Now I can tell you how to enable full text feeds.

    Go to Options -> Read­ing -> Syn­di­ca­tion Feeds -> Select ‘full text’ radio but­ton as the RSS option.

    Also, one more thing. The link text color is very sim­i­lar to back­ground color. Not enough con­trast like the main text has. Did any­one else felt that?

    some­thing dark about it… not sin­is­ter … but dark
    maybe some­thing to do with your night outs…
    (bat­man… was there ever a bat woman… and did cat like the bat ?? )
