Feet fetish
So I’ve been trying to figure out what my fetish is and I finally found it - feet!
Everyone has some kind of a fetish. If you think you don’t, then you probably haven’t looked hard enough. I was so glad when I realised mine was something as harmless as feet. It could have been much worse, you know :)
Not only do I love feet, I also like taking pictures of them! I have quite a few of them in my collection, I realised, but here are just a few.

So what’s your fetish? And don’t say you don’t have any…

Shutterbugs!
Early morning, on Saturday, I found myself on Avenue Road, Chickpet along with a bunch of around 10 other enthu cutlets.
I had never before ventured into that side of town so it was an interesting experience, I must say. I will write about it sometime later, but meanwhile, I really liked this picture that Srividya took of us in a happy relaxed mood!

Celebrate!
The celebration run at the marathon on Sunday morning turned out to be the greatest fun! I reached the stadium around 8.30 am when the crowds were beginning to come in. Some of the full and half marathon folks were just crossing the exit line. The full marathon was won by an Indian so that’s something to cheer about! Considering it took us 1 hour to complete the celebration run and this guy ran 40 something kms in 2 hours something minutes. Hmm…

Rain, rain, come again
Memories of a rainy day:
Growing up in the lovely hill station of Shillong, I remember the rains. It would go on for days. And days.
With no respite. But being in the hills, we had an advantage in that there would never be any flooding. Our house, situated on the Lachumiere hilltop had a lovely view of a part of the town. The whole house had large French windows that rattled and shook as the rains hit the panes violently; sometimes so hard, that I feared we would have no windows left at the end of the downpour. They survived though.

Sensible advice, come lately!
So here’s some seemingly good advice, I should have received about 5 years ago!
Dance, baby, dance!
When I was in the ninth standard or so, I decided to try my hand (and feet) at classical dancing. There was a dance teacher in school called Mrs Dhingra, who would take classes at her home. I bravely enrolled.
And thus began my one-year affair with the graceful classical dance form called Bharatnatyam. Now, I did complete one year, but I can frankly say that I wasn’t her star pupil. All that head-shaking and hand folding into delicate graceful mudras were a challenge for me, from the word go (or the words ta they they!).

A post with no name

It was just pure coincidence that I’m currently reading Vikram Seth’s From Heaven Lake, and I received this lovely poem by the same author from a friend who’s far, far away in another continent right now.
All You who Sleep Tonight
All you who sleep tonight
Far from the ones you love,
No hand to left or right
And emptiness above -
Know that you aren’t alone
The whole world shares your tears,
Some for two nights or one,
And some for all their years.

Blogcamp 2006 is around the corner
Blogcamp 2006 is happening at Tidel Park in Chennai on Sept 9-10, a two day packed event that is bound to be informative, fun and will have loads of interaction, which is exactly what you’d expect from an event involving bloggers.
Here’s a clip from the website: “Blogcamp hopes to provide a forum where bloggers can share their stories and be inspired by innovative and successful blogging experiences. In the spirit of blogging and no-barriers interaction, the two-day event will be in an unconference mode.”
The list of topics is quite interesting and includes:
Conversation and the Public Nature of the Medium
Disaster Relief blogging
Serious Blogging can change the face of Conventional Journalism
Group Blogging strategies
Professional Blogging
Intranet Blogging: The Secret World Behind the Firewall
Human Attention and The Future of Blogging
Blogging for a Global Audience
These are just a few I randomly picked up. The complete list is here.
The organizers and volunteers have gone to a lot of trouble to get this whole ‘unconference’ happening and it will probably be the largest ever of its kind in India. They roped in a few well-known sponsors, including Yahoo! India and Nokia, Intel, Ford etc. I know several bloggers from Bangalore are already planning to be there in Chennai for the occasion.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it. Though I would have loved to meet a whole galaxy of bloggers I haven’t met before. But I will be actively following it online.
