I jumped at the earlier post on Koshy's. It's a mystery to me too. But it's a place that allows you to dissolve among the tables: maybe the noise, the slow pace, the anonymity that bad service allows you. I can read there; I'd get a bit conscious at many other places. Besides, I've never been asked to leave after paying the bill- I can stay, scribble, ponder, stare. Or so it was three years ago...
