Bangalore’s options to lovers of tea — Chai Point and Chaipatty

Whitefield gets a brand new dining place in Counter Culture

The newly opened restaurant, proves to be an interesting place to hang out and gossip with friends, over food and drinks, especially over a long lazy weekend meal.

Of gastronomy, gluttony and much gladness

It was a different experience in Mumbai this time around – we played tourists to the hilt. When you live in a city, I think you tend to miss a lot of things – fine details you don’t really notice as you rush about your daily work. Like that lovely Church behind Fort where I worked for a year or so – why had I never seen it? The beautiful old heritage buildings in Kalaghoda and Fort – never looked at them closely before. I had little time to stand and stare back then.

Another ready reckoner!

So it was only May end/beginning of June that I was down with a cold and got these useful home remedies. I’ve barely got over that bout (or so it seems!) and I am down with a cold again. Gosh, how I hate them! I was going through a recent Deccan Herald where I found these […]

Patra ni macchi and other Parsi delicacies!

I had an opportunity to sample some great Parsi fare a couple of weekends ago. I had read about it in a newspaper and archived it for future reference. And then when we were looking for a place to eat in Indiranagar, I suddenly remembered my archived reference. I went there for the first time and then the following weekend : that should tell you a lot about how much I liked the food!

A little corner of serenity(ea)!

In my perfect world, I will be surrounded by a lot of teapots of varying shapes and sizes. There will be cups of tea in different flavours waiting to be tasted, tea strainers, tea pots, kettles and the intoxicating smell of the dark brew everywhere.

Hungry, kya?

“You’ve never been to Food Street?” I could hear disbelief in Badri’s voice when I replied in the negative. It’s true. I’ve never been there. Never had the chance. And besides, no one’s ever suggested meeting at Food Street before. So on Sunday evening, a few of us got together and decided on a rendezvous […]

Oh fish!

A review of the newly opened Oh Calcutta

Being a fish (and food) lover, it doesn’t take much to entice me for a meal. Especially a Bengali meal, since it’s the closest I can get to an Assamese meal. I am on a sort of cooking sabbatical, so finding new restaurants to try out also helps a lot.
