Taming the bull – on cycle and on foot!

Our destination: Nandi Hills, located about 60 km north of Bangalore and about 4800 ft above sea level. On top was Tipu Sultan’s summer retreat and the remains of Tipu’s fort still remain. Tipu’s Drop, a 600 metre high cliff face, where prisoners were hurled down the precipice when the king was really angry. Not […]

The purrfect pose

The practice of the Surya Namaskar touches all aspects : body, mind and soul. I particularly like this exercise as it’s a great way to stretch parts of the body which normally don’t get much action. :-p

Right on “Trek”!

So a year or so ago, I was presented with a Hercules bicycle. It’s a really reliable cycle and stood me in good stead over quite a few long trips that I made. Of course, by the end of the trip, every muscle of mine would be strained, but at least I was getting some […]

Day 1, 2 & 3

It was pretty hectic the last two days. People have been streaming in through the day. Lots of friends (and lots who promised didn’t turn up, but that is always expected!). Some nice surprises, people who came in through this blog and Bangalore Metblogs also. The Slimes refused to feature us, and we didn’t get […]

Potter, potter, make me a …pot!

Somewhere in the bowels of Fraser Town is a non-descript place called Pottery Town. It’s not really a town, just a street that houses about 30 potter families. And have been for quite some time now. Apparently, Pottery Town was born when the Government gave 60 potters a designated area on a 30-year lease. Over the years, the potter’s days of glory has declined and many of the new generation don’t want to take it up.

Sensible advice, come lately!

So here’s some seemingly good advice, I should have received about 5 years ago!

Dance, baby, dance!

When I was in the ninth standard or so, I decided to try my hand (and feet) at classical dancing. There was a dance teacher in school called Mrs Dhingra, who would take classes at her home. I bravely enrolled.

Things to do on Saturday morning

On a cool Saturday morning, we decided to do some shooting at Lalbagh. Not to worry, folks. No criminal activities were indulged in here. And no insects were harmed in the process either.
