Month: December 2008

And here’s 2009!

So another year passed by. And like we often say as we get older – ‘quickly’. I remember writing this same post last year. The thing about blogs is that you can actually look back year on year and check what you were thinking at that point of time. For someone with a bad memory like me, it helps a lot. I actually have new year posts dating back to quite a few years. So why break the tradition, I thought. Sometimes I made resolutions, sometimes I didn’t. Over the years, I’ve realized the futility of this exercise. Better to make a wish list through the year and keep re-visiting it. These annual things just don’t work! But I always do introspect. Mostly because the rest of the time, I’m usually in transit between various activities, places or people and don’t get much time to do it. But in the New Year, one must indulge in some “thinking”. And I haven’t come up with much. Except the fact that I have to become more financially …

Hungry, kya?

“You’ve never been to Food Street?” I could hear disbelief in Badri’s voice when I replied in the negative. It’s true. I’ve never been there. Never had the chance. And besides, no one’s ever suggested meeting at Food Street before. So on Sunday evening, a few of us got together and decided on a rendezvous at this place.

Back from Goa!

Just back from a week long cycling trip to Goa. We cycled over 60 kms every day over 5 days. The weather was hot and steamy. The terrain was up and down and mostly unpredictable. We crossed beaches, little towns, hamlets, green fields, mining areas, hills, plains, forests and wildlife sanctuaries. We saw Goa like we’d never seen before. We began from Panjim. From there we made our way down South towards Mobor and Assolna (Day 1 halt). The next day we headed towards Netravati and halted at Tanshikar Farms (and the best place we stayed in during our journey!). On day 3, we made our way east towards Doodhsagar (famous for the falls of the same name), which is located in the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. On Day 4, we headed towards Bondla National Sanctuary after one of the toughest climbs of the trip. On the last day on the road, we left Bondla and made our way to Marcel, and then Old Goa via the Cumburjua ferry ghat. From Old Goa, we cycled …

More cycling adventures!

When I finally learnt how to cycle properly at the beginning of this year, I didn’t think I’d be signing up for a week long cycling trip. But I did : so here I am! A few weeks ago, I went on my first long cycling trip to a place called Chiktirupati. And of course, despite my valiant efforts, the anti-climax was that I was put in a rick and sent back home on the way back. This time around, I was determined to make it through. Anil (soon to be TFN participant!), who suggested the destination for Sunday, borrowed a really nice Fuji Crosstown bike for me. And a lovely bike it turned out to be : really smooth and light and I enjoyed riding it. We set off in the morning around 7 am from the Wipro campus : Anil, Manjula, Sandeep and I. Sudhir was supposed to join in, but dropped out. There was a thick cover of mist as we started off and I was hoping it would last for the …
