Love, light and happiness!

It’s the festival of lights – one I associate some great childhood memories. Growing up, we had fun with our share of crackers and other noise creating diversions. The crackers fortunately no longer seem attractive and we stopped indulging in them quite long ago – besides being polluting (both air and noise) somehow it doesn’t seem like a celebration when you’re doing so much harm to the environment. Besides the fact, there’s always a lot of injuries, burns, and other such associated risks that come with crackers. Lights and candles, however, I have a soft corner for and I have several already all around the house :0) I love the earthen diyas – they seem to have gotten really creative these days – I picked a few from a roadside vendor a couple of days ago and he had a few piles of different designs to choose from! A very happy Diwali to all of you! Let me take this chance to spread some happiness, good cheer and light!

More women power needed!

So the action on the Tour of the Nilgiris is heating up! There’s a lot going on and you’ll see it if you log into the website. Personally, I’m really excited about the ride and am looking forward to the hard work, the sweat, the tears and the fun! And if you still want to take a shot at entering, three lucky winners of this radio contest are going to go on the tour for absolutely free! I wish I’d waited for that chance ;-p Find out more here. And keep listening to Radio One, 94.3FM! And we’re falling short of women power in the tour – where are you adventurous women who thrive on challenges?! Please do come forward and sign up! And if you have any questions, feel free to ask me – anitabora (at) (yahoo) dot (com).

Taming the bull – on cycle and on foot!

Our destination: Nandi Hills, located about 60 km north of Bangalore and about 4800 ft above sea level. On top was Tipu Sultan’s summer retreat and the remains of Tipu’s fort still remain. Tipu’s Drop, a 600 metre high cliff face, where prisoners were hurled down the precipice when the king was really angry. Not a place you want to venture close to! If you reach the top early enough – say between 6-9 am or so – you can experience the mist covered hills and drive through the clouds.

New look!

It’s time for a new look and feel to my blog! And also time to upgrade my WordPress – I still had an ancient version installed which does not automatically upgrade when a new one is released. While I’m updating some sections and making sure everything is in order, there might be some broken links, things not working, stuff not showing – do drop me a mail on anitabora at yahoo in case you notice anything amiss! In the meanwhile, let me go forth and carry on my repair work…
