Thank God, it’s Saturday!

Something really strange happened last night. I have never had so much alcohol in my life. And yet, after half a dozen or so cocktails and four drinks (between three of us!) we were all stone sober. It was happy hours at T.G.I.F. (nice ambience, slightly overpriced) and since it was Friday, we thought it would be an appropriate place to spend the evening! We started with margeritas. Followed by long island iced teas. Then we went for electric lemonades. After which it was pure vodka with lemonade. Ending with shots of tequila. After this whole episode it was wonder how all of were standing straight. Either we’re getting very good at holding our drinks or TGIF completely forgot to add alcohol in the cocktails! I strongly suspect it was the latter. Usually I reach my limit with two cocktails. So, there had to be something wrong with what they served us. And thanks everyone for all the suggestions left in my comments box. Nobody, thanks for all the helpful hints about your city. We’ve …

Three days in the garden city

Bangalore looks absolutely lovely by night. At least the portions I saw when I made my way from the station to my friend’s place. I think I like this place better, everytime I visit. I’m sitting in a cyber cafe in Koramangla right now. Don’t they have the most amazing bungalows here? Low sloping tiled roofs. Huge terraces. And pretty gardens. Sigh… I had to gape as I passed by one of the most beautiful looking dwelling abodes I’ve seen in a while. I mean you just don’t see these kind of houses in Mumbai. I have three days to spend in the garden city. Three days of total time pass. Ah… I haven’t had so much fun in a long time. So what should I do? What do people do here? I am definitely going to Aroma Garden sometime tomorrow, where I had the most amazing pedicure the last time I came here. I mean you have got to experience it to know! I couldn’t find a place like that in Mumbai. And any …

Will it ever end?

I returned from my quick trip from Assam to the news that militants had derailed a goods train back in my home state while two blasts rocked Mumbai, killing 45 and injuring over 150. Some images from the incident today. Mumbai has had more than its share of blasts this year. And all forms of transportation are being used to spread terror – buses, trains and now cabs. The Ghatkopar blast happened in a BEST bus in July. The Mulund blast happened on a local train in March. With the teeming millions who throng Mumbai train stations everyday, these areas are particularly vulnerable to attacks. Train stations that have recently been targetted – Vile Parle (Jan 28), Ghatkopar (Dec 2, 2002) and Mumbai Central (Dec 6, 2002). The city’s history of bomb blasts is increasing with alarming frequency. The blasts have taken place on the same day as the release of the Archeological Survey of India’s(ASI) report on the Ayodhya issue. Jivha writes in his blog: “Whatever the report says, whatever the group that engineered …
