Biking in San Fransisco

December 10th, 2010  |  by Anita  |  published in Cycling, Photography, Sports & Adventure, Travel

My first time to the United States turned out to be a short trip indeed. I only had one destination in my calendar – San Fransisco. A quick trip to Seattle happened too, except that I only saw the interiors of my aunt’s home there :-)

Entranced by an ancient art

October 15th, 2010  |  by Anita  |  published in India & Around, Living, Sports

I still remember the show we watched during a trip to Kerala last year. It was at Thekkady, while we were out exploring, when we saw a sign saying advertising a Kalari performance in the evening. We decided to venture in. Kalaripayattu is derived from the words Kalari — which means “place, threshing floor, or […]

The ride of a lifetime: Manali to Leh

August 3rd, 2010  |  by Anita  |  published in India & Around, Living, Photography, Sports & Adventure, Travel

Over 400 kms on some of the worst roads (and no roads in some places) but the most beautiful countryside. Manali to Leh on cycle spanning 10 days and many many breathless moments (both because of the altitude and the sight of the mighty Himalayan ranges!). The journey took us through lush evergreen forests, green […]

The North beckons!

July 7th, 2010  |  by Anita  |  published in India & Around, Living, Sports & Adventure, Travel

It’s been a while since I headed North. A few years in fact. I still have some vivid memories skiing down the lovely while slopes of Auli. And roaming around the gallis of Dharamasala in search of the perfect momo and of course visiting the Indian abode of HH The Dalai Lama. It’s time to go […]

And voila — you get a perfect monsoon weekend!

Rahul Verghese, founder of Running and Living has documented his experience in this video of the Comrades Marathon. Watch it here. Tanvir Kazmi has written about his experience too. Times Cycle to Work is organizing this event on Sunday. Do show your support and participate — lots of fun stuff for the kids too! And RunnerGirlsIndia […]

Saluting an invisible population

May 27th, 2010  |  by Anita  |  published in Cycling, Living

In Delhi, I met a lady called Anita, who had sold her car around 10 years ago and now cycles around instead. She told me that with her workplace and home not too far from each other, she manages on two wheels most of the time. And this too, in Delhi! She said something else that […]
