Vegan travel in India: The land of chai, yoga and ahimsa Posted on December 13, 2023December 3, 2024 Excited to share that my first feature on travelling in India as a vegan is now available in the Global Vegan Magazine. Read it here. (Page 96) onwards. If India has been in your sights recently, or you’ve ALWAYS wanted to discover the country, but with someone who is from there, this might be an opportunity – please read on! After I turned plant-based, I began to discover a different side of the country and have been pleasantly surprised during my recent travels with the rich diversity of plant-based foods. However, a bit of planning and research is required as there’s no one word to describe being ‘vegan’ in the country. A combination of various terms usually works. As a traveller, it’s also generally safer to opt for vegetables rather than animals (due to sanitation/health/environmental issues + not knowing where the meat comes from). So even if you’re not vegan or plant-based, eating more vegetarian foods when in India might also be safer. In the 2nd half of 2025, I am planning exploratory trips to Southern India covering Goa, Pondicherry and the city of Bangalore, incorporating the following: delicious vegan/plant-based cuisine, interesting sights and sounds, local cultural experiences, interacting with local artists/artisans, knowing about local conservation efforts, alongside wellness activities including yoga, meditation, walking, hiking etc. REGISTER YOUR INTEREST HERE Follow on Instagram: @thekindertravelco India on wheels Beautiful sights Portuguese influenced architecture Pondicherry: former French colony Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Print (Opens in new window) Print Adventure Trips Featured India & Around Travel featuredindia vegan travelplant-based indiaplant-based traveltravel indiavegan indiavegan travel
Featured Vietnam: A few first impressions Posted on July 5, 2014July 7, 2014 This was a different kind of trip. I didn’t do much research since my fellow traveller and photographer Hema took control of everything including the planning and organising (which I usually enjoy doing for my trips). For a change, I took a backseat as I was already busy planning an… Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Print (Opens in new window) Print Read More
Anita Recommends Mammoth Lakes Adventure: The Walk Posted on September 29, 2016 This picture pretty much sums up the challenge that lay ahead of us. The swim was done and I had survived the biking – it was now time for the final leg. A couple of days ago, on the way to Mammoth Lakes, we took Tioga Road that goes past… Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Print (Opens in new window) Print Read More
Featured A Kanha sunset Posted on December 16, 2013December 19, 2013 Wherever I travel, I try and experience a sunset. Isn’t it just magical, watching the sun go down at the end of the day? Travelling in Madhya Pradesh, currently at the Kanha Earth Lodge, yesterday evening we ventured out to a point where we could enjoy the sunset. We packed… Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Print (Opens in new window) Print Read More
