A pirate called Sparrow Posted on September 26, 2003 I watched Pirates of the Caribbean today. And Johnny Depp makes for an awesome pirate. His mannerisms, his accent, along with his hair – all combines to make him eminently watchable. Do catch it, if you haven’t already. I admire Depp for the variety of his roles. I’ve watched a few of his films – Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Donnie Brasco, The Brave – and what I like is the fact that he does very diverse roles and brings a lot of character into whatever he plays. Why Karan Johar named his movie KANK Posted on August 15, 2006August 15, 2006 Okay, now you just can’t go for a Karan Johar movie and expect intellectual stimulation. So don’t expect wonders when you’re watching KANK. I was keen to watch the movie on the day it was released (for some reason I have this fascination for watching movies the day it gets… Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Print (Opens in new window) Print Read More
Movie magic continues… Posted on February 7, 2004 Don’t you just hate those smart alecky types who sit right behind you and pass crappy comments all through the movie? Like you paid 100 bucks to hear their inane and totally stupid commentary. At one point of time, I was nearly tempted to turn around and scream, ‘Cut the… Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Print (Opens in new window) Print Read More

Hey A! Besides ‘Blow’ I recommend an old b/w Depp film called ‘Dead Man’. Not as popular as the rest of his films but one of the best JD films I’ve seen! Reply
Vikram: Will keep Fear and Loathing in mind next time I got to rent a video 🙂 Anya: Ed Wood? Is that a new one? Jil: Good to know you have some help. Will send you some useful links one of these days! Nobody: Great! More movies to see :0) Reply
Johnny Depp? Diverse roles? Isn’t he always playing the same wacko roles ? Even Jim Carrey does more diverse roles than Johnny Depp. Wanna catch this Pirate thing, but I think its sailed away from Chennai. Reply
Jim Carrey more diverse than Johnny Depp? I wouldn’t agree to that one! Carrey looks the same and acts the same in every movie he does! Reply
I have the VCD at home. Great movie. Depp is really a great actor. I also liked him for his comments re: america, “America is dumb, it’s like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite and hurt you, aggressive,” he said. “My daughter is four, my boy is one. I’d like them to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out,” Reply
