New look etc.

Posted on May 24, 2005May 24, 2005

After a couple of years using Movable Type, I am changing over to WordPress. Despite all the wonderful work thanks to Jay Allen and his MT Blacklist, I was still getting way too much spam. It was becoming a pain to remove it everyday. I am hoping WP does not give me as much stress 🙂

It’s going to take time for me to get used to the new interface. Updating my blogroll etc. is going to take me some more time, so do bear with me. Any problems that you might encounter with navigation, links etc. – do email me. Meanwhile, let me get back to work…

Meeting Mr Nandi

Posted on March 13, 2004

Between running errands on Monday, I finally caught up with the talented Mr Nandi in the afternoon. He wanted to know whether that salutation was meant as a compliment or an insult. Apparently, Mr Ripley was a murderer and imposter in the movie (I haven’t watched it)! Ah, well. You…

A pleasant surprise!

Posted on April 21, 2005

After a week when not very nice things happened to me, I was pleasantly surprised (actually I was absolutely thrilled) to get an email from Jag saying he was gifting me a Flickr pro account. Merci Beaucoup, Dhanyavaad. Danke, Grazie, Gracias and Thank You, Jag! Yoohoo! I am in seventh…

Change is good. I like this new look and feel. I am also using movable type, but I don’t get spammed that much (manageable), I will stick with this till it get worse.

Welcome to WordPress. Your site looks real good compared to the old one. Is spam (comment and trackback) the only reason for the switchover?

Jax: Umm, actually I switched hosts and Madman who is looking after it suggested I move to WP. This is, probably, a case of blind trust 🙂

Blind trust? In fact, it is a very good move by Madman to suggest WP. I guess he is tired of fixing up MT issues 😉 I wonder when he is switching to WP.

Jax: That comment would make Madman immensely happy 🙂 He was a little tired of all my emails complaining about spam! That is a question Madman will be able to answer!

When am I switching to WordPress? It’s a little more complicated for me, since I use some gimmicky thingamajigs on my blog and also have a separate links blog. So I have to work a little more on it.

http://wp.madmanweb.com is the beta. I am trying to figure out why my links blog window isn’t opening the way it’s supposed to.

Hey Anita – this new look is nice – and ever since I abandoned MT for WP – I have spent more time relaxing and enjoying!

Now this is what I call “change”. For once I wondered if I was on the right website! But its all for the better. Just LOVE the new look and feel. It has that “Classic” look about it. In my opinion, this is great!

    Anita, Here is my 2cents
The background and the font size/color of the fonts(?) are proving to be a little difficult to the eyes. Can you look into it?

The “banner” of your prior blogsite was more fun than the present one. Again it might be due to the background color.

MadMan: It would be wonderful if you could put a 301 redirect on the old MT feeds around these parts 🙂

Is the WP install running with the caching thingie on? I am being served WP pages way faster by the MadM server than it used to serve me the MT HTML pages.

Codey, behold the power of gzip compression. 😉

And yes, will add the 301 to the RSS. I won’t bother with all the feeds, just the RSS 2.0 one.

Just a test to see if the word codey is triggering Spam Karma. It says his comment was blocked because it matched something in the blacklist. – MadMan

I’m guessing the word L U S T in his URL is triggering the blacklist problem for codey – MadMan

    Thank God!

Now I can tell you how to enable full text feeds.

Go to Options -> Reading -> Syndication Feeds -> Select ‘full text’ radio button as the RSS option.

Also, one more thing. The link text color is very similar to background color. Not enough contrast like the main text has. Did anyone else felt that?
