The KTM is upon us…

The Kaveri Trail marathon is finally here (it also came much sooner than I thought!). On the scary side, I haven’t run in more than two weeks. My travel put my schedule out of order and I’ve been rather lazy in the mornings too. So I’m not in the best of conditions, but then I did sign up for it, so I have to keep my commitment 🙂 Here’s the gang at the pasta dinner with the RFL gang last evening at Herbs and Spice. But please note that some of these gorgeous women are not even runners ;-p From Misc So I happened to make this comment. “But you’re not even a runner,” I pointed out to one of them. “But darling, I have a great body already. I don’t need to run,” she replied, tongue-in-cheek. Dang! Women, I tell you. And these are my friends. Heh. Time to tuck in a quick dinner and crash! It’s going to be a long day tomorrow….

The highs and lows of Sunfeast

HIGHS: Running the Sunfeast 10K with over 4000 people in the Open 10K category : the energy and the crowd enthusiasm was pretty awesome and we could feel the excitement pulsating through the air as the whole group lined up for the start at sharp 9 am. This was my first run with such a large group of runners and it was great to see so many people out there.

Run on the runway

When I came across the post on the RFL running group about running on the runway at the new Bangalore airport, I couldn’t not be interested! I mean, how many times will I get the chance to say while looking our of the aircraft window (feeling really cool and all that, might I add), “Oh, do you know that I ran on this runway once?” 🙂 The new Bangalore International Airport is located at Devanhalli, which is on the way to Nandi Hills and around 25kms from Cubbon Park. So if you live in South Bangalore (including me), we have serious reason to worry! Anyway, back to my report. So early morning, on January 13, around 415 am we set out to Cubbon Park and boarded the bus that was to take us to the venue. Braving the cold weather and thick mist cover, about 30 people boarded the bus, the rest choosing to come in their own vehicles.

Celebrate!

The celebration run at the marathon on Sunday morning turned out to be the greatest fun! I reached the stadium around 8.30 am when the crowds were beginning to come in. Some of the full and half marathon folks were just crossing the exit line. The full marathon was won by an Indian so that’s something to cheer about! Considering it took us 1 hour to complete the celebration run and this guy ran 40 something kms in 2 hours something minutes. Hmm… The celebration run @ the Bangalore marathon
