While she was away…

Warning: Post filled with reference to cats and cat photos 🙂 So let me tell you my story. The owner of this blog decided to leave me with a shipful of cats and a dog while she was away traipsing all over the place. Actually, it was her annual home visit, but I was excluded from the trip. Not that I mind. Airplanes give me a headache and my heart can’t handle the pressure. So there I was surrounded by cats (or so they claim to be) of different shades and hues. Of course, none of them were as cool as me. I am after all the ultimate cat. Polly And then they expected me to socialize with these so called cats. I refused. Kit Kit does not socialize with common cats. Besides for a long time, I had the impression that I was the only cat in the world. I can make peace with the fact that I’m not, but how can she possibly expect me to socialize with these… common things?

Share your home

Pranjal’s made a post about 3 adorable little puppies that were looking for a home. In fact, he’s adopted one of them and was looking for a home for the other two. I am not sure if they’re still available, but you can head here and check with her. Please share your home! And those of you who are thinking of pets, here’s another site to check out. Instead of going in for expensive pedigree pets, which cost a bomb, why not adopt a stray instead? There are many of them looking for homes. This blog has loads of tips about adopting a stray dog, so do visit. And please spread the word around to friends, family, acquaintances and anyone who is looking to adopt a pet!

She clawed her way into my heart and wouldn’t let go!

This has become her morning routine. She wakes up reluctantly, making displeased noises, when I stir in the morning. Then she lies there, snuggled in the blanket, watching me get ready (and getting great pleasure, I’m sure). Then she climbs across the dressing table and goes behind the curtain and perches there on the ledge for a while, for reasons that are totally imcomprensible to me. And she does this nearly eveyr day! She sits there for a while, like a bride awaiting her ceremony. Then, once she’s done with her stint behind the curtains, she emerges sleepily and goes back to the blanket again! Sigh, cats. Don’t even try and understand them. Just love them and let them be 🙂 I collect cat quotes, so if you ever come across any, please do send them to me! Here are some of my favourites: Cats are smarter than dogs. You can’t get eight cats to pull a sled through snow. ~ Jeff Valdez There is something about the presence of a cat… that seems to …

The thing about pets…

When she came into my life in 2001, I didn’t know a thing about cats. But being an animal lover, I took to her like a fish to water. I read about cats, went online, talked to my vet and then realised that they’re the unfussiest of creatures to keep at home. Morever, you don’t need to take them out for daily walks. They’re independent and don’t go into depression if they’re left alone. During her growing up days, Kit Kit used to be a riot. Sleeping on the tummy, or curling up into a small ball next to the pillow, swinging from bags, hiding in drawers – she would keep me entertained all the time. Now she’s all grown up and full of feline grace. And totally lazy too. She only comes looking for me when she needs the warmth of my blanket, in the evenings when it gets a little cool. When I moved from Mumbai to Bangalore, I put her in a basket and booked an Indian Airlines flight (which claimed that …
