How much is too much?

Posted on December 8, 2003

I love watching movies. I can probably watch some of my favourite ones (like When Harry Met Sally!) about 7-8 times. Ten times at the most!

So when I read about Sukanya’s post about watching Shrek ninety times, I’m filled with pure amazement. Just 10 more views to go before she completes a century and enters the Guiness Book of Movie Records!

A hundred times? That is about 200 hours of pure Shrek. All I can say is ‘wow’! She definitely deserves an award.

How many times can you watch or have you watched your favourite movie? I’m sure none of you will come close to Suku’s record though!

Tale of three young men and women (not as disappointing as they’re telling you!)

Posted on May 26, 2004

After Crosswords last weekend, visited Oxford Book Shop at the Leela Palace this Sunday. Resisted from buying anymore books till I get some moolah this month though. Picked up a magazine instead. Met up with a photographer who will be conducting a three month basic course starting from June. Since…

Why Karan Johar named his movie KANK

Posted on August 15, 2006August 15, 2006

Okay, now you just can’t go for a Karan Johar movie and expect intellectual stimulation. So don’t expect wonders when you’re watching KANK. I was keen to watch the movie on the day it was released (for some reason I have this fascination for watching movies the day it gets…

I have seen my favorite movie “Micheal Madhana Kaamarajan” deffinetly more than 100 times…. There was a time when I would watch it everyday twice or thrice…. constantly for 3 months or so.

That was when I was younger (7-10). My newer records are not so mention-worthy. “A few Good men” – 8 times and “Amar Akbar Anthony” – 10/12 times. “Dil Chahtha Hai” – 6/7 times and the “Sixth Sense” 7/8 times πŸ˜€

Well viewing is certainly > 10 times for: Matrix-1, Jumanji, Jurassic Park, Hera-pheri, Terminator, Alien, thanks to cable TV. About 5-6 times in my college days, “Maine Pyar Kiya” and “Dil” and (for some strange reasons, “Nakabandi”, ever heard of this movie?)

Vidya: It must have been a really good movie. And btw, what were you doing watching movies at such a tender age?!

Debashish: Ten is definitely my limit!

i mustve been in and around you site for a good two hours yesteday. you have a great style and seem to be a real good organiser too.

By the way i was in Jorhat in school for 3 years when dad was posted there- there is something so romantic about the place and the people- cant forget the Nimathi Ghat, Bhihus, Durga puja,(forgot the name of the )dancedramas…not to mention the Japi and the Gamuchas. dont u write on assam?

I must have seen ‘The Matrix’ atleast about 15 times. ‘Matrix Reloaded’ about 5 times and ‘Matrix Revolutions’ exactly 2 times. Compare that with Suku’s record and it pales out!

Ahh! How could I forget ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’! That must definitely be above 20 times.

Hmm… I have probably seen the Godfather movies close to 50 times. I know the movie by heart. Vidya… MMKR is one of my favs as well… remember all the lines from that and Apoorva Sagotharargal.

Apart from that almost all the movies I’ve watched in recent years (not necessarily new movies), I’ve seen atleast 5 times each.

I’ve watched “The thin Red line” about 5-6 times. That’s pretty much my limit I guess.

Praveen/Jogger: Nice to hear you were here and hope you enjoyed it! I was in Jorhat too for about 2-3 years and studied in Mt Carmel school at that time. I do write about Assam once in a while. I was recently in Guwahati myself. I haven’t really spent too much time there though, that’s why you won’t find much. But I do plan on doing more of it in the future!

Nilesh: I’ve watched Matrix once and Reloaded once and I have still to figure out what it is about the movie! Maybe Revolutions will clear that up a little bit, but the reviews have stopped me from straying into the hall for this one! I’ve watched Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron once on TV years and years ago. And I can’t remember it!

Anand: 50 times? But then you’re an up and coming movie director so I guess its understandable. I’m planning to see Anjali once again when I get back to Mumbai! I still can’t get over the fact that you were the little boy in it πŸ˜‰ I used to watch heaps of South Indian movies on TV earlier, but I just wish they had English sub-titles. Some of them do seem really good.

Gandalf: 2 would be my limit for that movie. War/violent movies I can’t handle more than a couple of times, however good they might be.
