The purrfect pose

Posted on September 27, 2009September 30, 2009

The practice of the Surya Namaskar touches all aspects : body, mind and soul. I particularly like this exercise as it’s a great way to stretch parts of the body which normally don’t get much action. :-p

Some visuals that show the steps.

So apparently, we use only 35 to 40% of muscles in daily activities. The rest of the muscles remain inactive. The Surya Namaskar is a physical exercise where almost 95% to 97% of your muscles are switched on to active mode.

Some benefits:
– Eliminates unpleasant smells from the body.
– Lends grace and ease of movements to the body.
– Revives and maintains the spirit of youthfulness.
– Broadens chest and beautifies arms.
– Makes the spine and waist flexible.
– Produces health, strength, efficiency and longevity.

Need anymore reasons to start your daily dose?

And if you’re wondering how cats maintain their feline grace, here’s an example of Kit Kit doing her bit of the namaskar!

Finishing the KTM

Posted on October 23, 2008November 3, 2008

Mostly, I remember the last few kilometers of KTM. Because I’ve never been so relieved that it was done. But then I say that after every run 🙂 Well, I probably wasn’t the only one : with the sun shining in all its glory : at times during the 3…

‘It’s another weekend’ musings…

Posted on August 20, 2004

I’ve been enjoying the weather the last few days. Kit Kit too is finding it much cooler compared to Mumbai and can often be found perching on my lap, or cuddling up under the blanket (which she would never do there!). I’ve been in a good mood too. Even the…

Bird’s eye view of Bangalore

Posted on May 17, 2004

Last weekend, I probably went through the worst of it (I hope). Fell horribly sick. And then got depressed, since I hate being sick. I think after the initial excitement it suddenly dawned on me that I was in a new place. It’s not a nice feeling to be sick…

I completely agree with u!! I’ve been doing yoga for 1.5yrs and I’ve derived IMMENSE benefits thru it!!

The best part is suryanamskars can be used for different purposes.Doing it slow and holding each pose for long builds flexibility/strength whereas doing it fast is a good cardio workout. Doing 108 builds the stamina 🙂
