The North beckons!

It’s been a while since I headed North. A few years in fact. I still have some vivid memories skiing down the lovely while slopes of Auli. And roaming around the gallis of Dharamasala in search of the perfect momo and of course visiting the Indian abode of HH The Dalai Lama.
It’s time to go back! This time I head towards Manali and will make my way towards Leh, all depending on the road conditions. There have already been a lot of reports about the excessive rain and snowfall this time around. But then, that’s the fun of travel and adventure. Some amount of unpredictability — the plans are all well laid but we don’t quite know what will happen until we get there!
The travel will extend towards the end of July and I will try and keep my twitter updated wherever I have signal. But I intend to fully enjoy a signal free life :-)

That is the most beautiful adventure in Leh. I biked around Leh 2 years ago — the best adventure ever, my blog’s header image says it all.
If you haven’t decided a place to stay in Leh, I can suggest shanti guest house, a lovely hotel 1.5 kms from main market, away from the hustle and bustle of this small town.. Rs300/- day and wonderful hosts.

I was in Delhi this morning and was watching news of Punjab, Manali and other areas being cut off due to heavy rains… Hope the situation improves by the time you reach

I have been hoping to make a trip to Leh for long… Have a wonderful, fun-filled, adventurous and safe trip!

thanks keshav! we stayed in oriental guest house this time but i’ll keep this for reference! sounds like a nice homely place!
@ srinidhi: we lost a day due to a road block (landslide) but once we crossed that it was all okay!
