The meeting of masters Posted on January 19, 2004 Let me bring you songs from the wood: to make you feel much better than you could know. Well, well. they’re finally coming to our neck of the woods. Two flautists, both with their inimitable styles – Ian Anderson and Hari Prasad Chaurasia, will be performing on 31st Jan and 1 Feb in Mumbai. I nearly jumped out of my skin in excitement when I saw the ad in Mid-Day day on Friday. Can’t afford to miss this one. While I totally freaked out on Tull music, especially during my college days, there is another reason why I love the man! The last time Jethro Tull toured the city, I was a student, broke and peniless. This time, I am equally broke, but the credit card saved me! I hope some of you will be going. The tickets are running out already. I’m so excited, that I might ditch my efforts to learn the guitar and take up the flute for a while. Two noteworthy performances Posted on November 18, 2005November 18, 2005 I have to write about two performances that I enjoyed in the last week. One was last Sunday evening at the Palace Grounds – Octoberfest, the festival organized by Kingfisher. Since, beer is not something that tickles my fancy, I was hoping the music would be worth going for. On that note, I must also add, that I was pleasantly surprised by the way the whole set-up was organized. They had nice seating arrangements all around the front area of the stage, so you could chill out and eat your food and drink your beer and enjoy the music from wherever you were. Songs from the wood Posted on February 6, 2006February 7, 2006 Jethro Tull as expected rocked the IIM grounds last Friday (Jan 3). It was my first visit to the much hallowed campus and whatever little I saw looked good. There was hardly any space for parking with all the narrow roads choc-a-bloc with vehicles. I made a reasonably early entry arriving with my precious pass in hand (thanks to Usha!). As soon as I entered the grounds, I made my way to the very front of the stage.
