Metbloggers meet @ Infinitea

We met on Saturday afternoon at Infinitea. There was Usha, Prabhu, Ravi and Thejesh (an ex-author and reader now :). Rajesh who blogs here, dropped in and hopefully will be a part of the team soon. He’s also written a really nice post here about the meeting and about Infinitea so you can follow this link. Divs put in a special guest appearance before rushing off to another appointment. We do hope we’ll have more people the next time around. It’s always a pleasure meeting with such interesting people and from such varied backgrounds. It’s one of the main factors that keeps me motivated to be a part of forums like Bangalore Metblogs. It’s voluntary and free, but I think what you gain as experience cannot be measured and is worth much more in the long run. And on that note, I’d like to add that we want to increase our team strength at Metblogs. If you’re interested, check out this page (you need to be a Bangalore resident, of course). House hunting woes in Bangalore

So I’ve been looking for a place to buy. My mom thinks I should get “settled”. I think it’s a scary word and I have never quite understood why parents make it the purpose of their lives. If children are happy and content living their lives the way they want, why put so much pressure to conform to what they (the parents) think is the right way to live their lives? Settling down in mom’s dictionary would mean having most (preferably all and more!) of the following – house, car, safe, secure job, money in bank, husband/wife, kids (not necessarily in the same order). While I don’t necessarily agree to this definition of being “settled in life” who’s going to do the explaining to my mom? Not me. I do want to live for a few more years 🙂

Blogcamp 2006 is around the corner

Blogcamp 2006 is happening at Tidel Park in Chennai on Sept 9-10, a two day packed event that is bound to be informative, fun and will have loads of interaction, which is exactly what you’d expect from an event involving bloggers. Here’s a clip from the website: “Blogcamp hopes to provide a forum where bloggers can share their stories and be inspired by innovative and successful blogging experiences. In the spirit of blogging and no-barriers interaction, the two-day event will be in an unconference mode.” The list of topics is quite interesting and includes: Conversation and the Public Nature of the Medium Disaster Relief blogging Serious Blogging can change the face of Conventional Journalism Group Blogging strategies Professional Blogging Intranet Blogging: The Secret World Behind the Firewall Human Attention and The Future of Blogging Blogging for a Global Audience These are just a few I randomly picked up. The complete list is here. The organizers and volunteers have gone to a lot of trouble to get this whole ‘unconference’ happening and it will probably be …

Blog Day

August 31, 2006 is Blog Day. According to the blogger behind this idea, “BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. On this day every blogger will post a recommendation of 5 new blogs. In this way, all Blog web surfers will find themselves leaping around and discovering new, previously unknown blogs.” You also need to post the recommendations on your site and also notify the selected bloggers. Read the instructions page for more. So go forth blogger, you, blog away!
