Now for some food…

I’m sure most of you would have stopped at Kamat’s Lokaruchi on the Bangalore Mysore highway near Ramanagaram at some point or the other.

Busy

It’s a popular stop for travelers and especially at lunch time, when they serve traditional South Indian meals in plantain leafs. I was of course super excited since I don’t get to eat food served like this too often.

Starting off

I tried the same meal on subsequent days as we’d timed our stops so we could be there at lunch time. The chatnis, sabjis and accoutrements that go along with the meal are really delicious and I savoured eveything on my leaf immensely! And I like the way everything is served in small quantities so you can ask for more of whichever one you like the most.

Full meal!

They had three kinds of meals the day we visited: Karavali, North Karnataka and Ragi Mudde. I so enjoyed the Karavalli meal that I had it on both days.

Kamat Lokaruchi

A must stop on the highway and try and make it for lunch. Weekends are crowded but worth trying to find some place πŸ™‚

In the shade of the silver oak

If you want a short break, but don’t want to venture out too far from the city, Nandi Hills is a good option. The only problem though is that all sorts of crowds land up there by mid-morning and it seems more like a mela out there during the weekends.

Yum Yum…have been to this place once.

A particular food court in your office campus serves North Karnataka Thali…hubs dear used to love having the same for lunch…every single day when he was in that company.

Hi Anita…just happened to stumble upon your blog…actually I was trying to find out some Assamese blogs…before I say anymore, I too am a piscean to the core and a child of the early seventies. Through my blog, I’ve made many virtual friends, most of them are from the south of India, and so, although I haven’t had the pleasure of savourig all those delicacies that you’ve pictured, I do get to have a very good look now and then, virtually of course…glad to have found you…will certainly keep in touch.
